Theodore J. Saclarides, MD, is Professor of Surgery and Head of the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Saclarides was born and raised in Clearwater, Florida, and received his undergraduate education in chemistry and mathematics at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, graduating in 1982. He then completed a residency in general surgery at Rush Medical College in Chicago and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Saclarides is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He is a member of the National Ultrasound Faculty for the American College of Surgeons, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and American Medical Society. His areas of special expertise include diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus; colonoscopies; and anorectal ultrasounds. Dr. Saclarides lectures both nationally and internationally. He has authored several books and over 100 manuscripts, abstracts, and chapters. Dr. Saclarides serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Surgical Oncology and is reviewer for several medical journals.
